MB Exclusive - Amar out of English title defence

Adnan Amar has pulled out of his English welterweight title fight at the weekend.

The Ingle-trained Nottingham switch-hitter, due to make the second defence of his crown in an interesting-looking all-Midlands ten-rounder with Coventry's unbeaten James Flinn [pictured], is off the Hennessy Sports-promoted show at EventCity, Manchester, on Saturday evening [November 12].

A chest infection has been given as the reason for the champion's withdrawal and two-time British Masters 10st 7lbs boss Flinn now boxes Leeds' Adil Anwar, 12-1 (6), over ten for the vacant strap on a Channel 5-televised show topped by Tyson Fury's Commonwealth heavyweight title fight with Canadian-based Neven Pajkic.

And the West Midlands prospect, devastated at losing the chance to defeat a former Midland Area champion who'd made the ten-rounder personal, said: "I was looking forward to putting on a show on Saturday and taking the English title from Amar.

"He'd been mouthing off a lot to me on Facebook and Twitter in the last few weeks and even got some of his fans to do the same. In fact, Kell Brook joined in with it as well. But i'm disappointed i don't get the chance to ram those words down his throat because i would have done, believe me.

"But at least i'm still boxing for the English and have a decent test against Anwar, who i don't know too much about," admitted the 29-year-old, 10-0-1 (2). "But i'll get the job done whoever it is they put in front of me."
