McCauley after second pro title

Former Midland Area champion Kevin McCauley has the chance to add a second belt to his collection tonight [November 4].

The solid Stourbridge-based light-middleweight [pictured on the left sparring Dean Harrison at Errol Johnson's KO Gym last week] makes the long trip to the Hilton Hotel in Glasgow to cross swords with Craig Windsor Jr for the vacant British Masters 11st strap and is looking to bring to an end a bad spell of results.

McCauley hasn't had his hand raised in his previous ten but his opponents combined records in that period read a staggering 78-4, including reversals to current English welterweight boss Adnan Amar and hammer-fisted Eastern European Sergei Rabchenka. He's mainly boxed at middleweight but slims down to test an eight-bout [seven wins, two quickly] Scot competing in his second 30-minute contest.

Well-built Windsor starts as favourite on the Sweeney Promotions bill in Scotland but Celtic-rooted McCauley's past form in and around 11st should serve as a warning for the Dave Coldwell-handled puncher.

The 32-year-old Black Countryman has scalped three unbeaten fighters in his 42-fight career [nine wins and three draws] and ripped the Area welterweight belt from touted Derby stylist Dave Ryan over ten in his opponent's backyard in 2010. He followed that up with a points win over stocky switch-hitter Dee Mitchell to re-enforce his ability when on-song.

For the record, two other Midlands-based boxers, Stoke's Marvin Campbell and Nottingham's all-action Andy Hardy [both winless but capable], box on the same bill.
